After having breakfast, just walk out of the hotel, you are already in the middle of a beautiful park, get some fresh air by following one of the marked footpaths of Lovér Hills. Climb up to the Károly-magaslat, a 23m (75ft) high viewing tower provides a marvelous panorama of the surrounding area.
And then start to explore this historic town, which has well preserved medieval and Baroque buildings. Walk from Lovér Hills on the southwest of the town to the Fire Tower on the northern side of the Old Town of Sopron. You can appreciate so many amazing monuments and protected buildings. Interesting to know that the foundations of the Fire Tower are Roman; the lower square base 14th C; the cylindrical center with the Tuscan arcade is Renaissance; the upper part - a clock tower with a multi-storied onion dome - was added from 1681-82 following the fire. The entrance to the 61m (222ft) high tower, with magnificent views from its gallery over the town, is at Fo tér; it houses a local history collection. To the south of the tower is the Loyalty Gate, presented to the town in 1921 by the government in Budapest following the referendum. The citizens of Sopron are depicted on the relief showing reverence to the crowned Hungarian.. Remember to taste some Austrian specialties in one of the restaurants.
