Day 9
A new destination for you today, after the breakfast, you will board the train at 09:34 am, then travel along the Tisza River to "City of Sunshine", Szeged. You will have a connection in Cegled at 01:48 pm. Finally you will arrive in Szeged at 03:15 pm. You will check in Tisza Sport Hotel, which is on the bank of the Tisza River, in peaceful green surroundings. And downtown Szeged can be accessed within a few minutes.
After a bit rest, you can start your journey to see the Tisza River, Dóm square,in its size Dóm tér is exactly the same as Saint Mark Square in Venice, 12.000 m2 and is the venue of the internationally known Szeged Open Air Festival held first in 1931, and the Votive church ,which is now a cathedral decorated with numerous mosaics, statues and low-reliefs inside and outside. Europe’s third largest church organ with 9,040 pipes is in the Cathedral. One of the most remarkable artistic work among the inside statues is “Christ on the Cross” by János Fadrusz who won Grand Prix in Paris in 1900; appreciate the work by Hungarian painters in Ferenc Mora Museum.
An excellent choice for your dinner is Kiskörössy Halászcsárda because you can enjoy your meal next to the river and quite often they will also have musicians perform traditional Hungarian folkmusic or Gypsy music for the guests.
